when do I get my referral fee?

We would like to pay your referral fee to you as soon as possible. However, we do not wish our referral fee to provide any form of incentive for unfounded claims and that is why our referral fee is subject to terms and conditions. We will only pay a referral fee after we are satisfied that there is a genuine and winnable case. This will usually be when “liability is admitted” – which can sometimes happen within a matter of weeks, but can be later when the matter is not straight forward.

can I share my referral fee with the accident victim?

This is a matter entirely for you. We can pay the accident victim, a family member or friend.

when will I get my compensation?

We will try to deal with your case as quickly and professionally as we can, but please understand that claims do not all follow a fixed pattern or timetable. The minimum amount of time a claim can take to settle is about 3 months. The average time is about 6 months. If we cannot settle the case, we may have to consider taking court proceedings. This can extend the time for finishing a claim by up to another 15 months. Rest assured that we will try to get the claim finished as quickly as we can, with the best result possible.

will I have to attend Court?

We expect the vast majority of cases to settle and it is therefore highly unlikely that you will have to attend Court. However, if you do we will keep you fully updated and ensure that you are thoroughly prepared.

will I get a hire car?

This depends on your case, but remember that there is no such thing as a free lunch. Some accident management companies will provide you with a hire car on condition that you sign their agreement. Although you will not receive an immediate invoice you should remember that you will always be liable for the hire charges. This means that if your claim does not succeed or the Court decides not to award the full cost of hire then you are liable for the hire charges (or part of them). Before you decide to enter into a hire car agreement please speak to us about “mitigating your loss”.

will I have to come to your office?

No. We will normally deal with your matter by correspondence or over the telephone. If necessary we can also visit you at home or at the hospital.
